My MASH

Well hi there everyone. By now, I'm sure you've all been enjoying this awesome new podcast that Kenny has "fathered"! It's been a joy for me to work on this show with Kenny and Meds.

I'm kind of a fan of making connections in movies and TV, you know, this actor played this role, and was in this show with so and so...you get it. Anyway, this has happened many times in M*A*S*H the TV series. For example, the venerable character actor Pat Morita guest starred on the show twice as Captain Sam Pak of the Republic of Korea Army. But perhaps one of his most famous roles was as Matsuo "Arnold" Takahashi, owner of the diner Arnold's in the long running sitcom Happy Days. Did you know that there is a connection between Happy Days and M*A*S*H? Yep. Actor/Director/Writer Ron Howard, who played Richie Cunningham on Happy Days also played a big role in the M*A*S*H season one, episode "Sometimes You Hear The Bullet" as Marine Private Walter Peterson. Pretty cool huh?

From screen to 'possible' reality in form of Lego

The Mash 4077 Podcast has got off to a fabulous start and I'm proud to be part of it. Having been a fan since the age of seven i started watching as the series came to a close so those familiar faces of Hawk, BJ, Charles, Potter and Klinger drifted away from my screens within a few years of me becoming addicted.

Imagine my surprise when BBC2 began re-screening them right from the start and happy to see Hawkeye back, though his hair seemed a lot darker but where was BJ, Charles and Klinger? Instead I had a wise cracking man with curly hair and very white teeth and a man who seemed very uptight and having a foot fetish with another stuck up woman who looked a bit like a character I'd known as Margaret but here she was called Hotlips.

After a few episodes though I fell back in love and my addiction started again and has never stopped. At the age of 38 I still get excited when i watch a episode, even if its on TV i will still go out of my way to watch. I have the full DVD box set collection, the film, the large book, the Alan Alda end of MASH book and even the novels. Also sitting in my study is a Lego play set, actually its Lego but made by another company and yes you have guessed it it is the MASH set complete with ambulance, jeep, hospital, and that infamous sign pointing in all directions of home.

That Lego set sits away from my daughter, who in her own little world looks at Lego pieces as something to chew on, i see her point but she can stick to chewing her own blocks and not mine that make up my own little MASH 4077 base.

Cast Interviews

Beside reviewing episodes of MASH my co-host and I were hoping bring you some interviews with actual Cast Members from this wonderful series.

I happen to come across Mike Farrell (BJ Honeicutt) email address and figured, what would it hurt to email him and ask if he was interested in talking with us... well this was yesterday and when I woke up this morning there was a email from him stating that he will be out of the country until mid-March but to get back in contact with him after and we can set up something. This made me very excited and hopeful. So we're going to continue to try and get more cast members to interview and come mid-March will hopefully we speaking with Mr. Farrell.
